Animals are affected by heat stress which could be caused by:
Overcrowding, lack of ventilation, elevated temperatures, high humidity, …

Signs:
·· Labored breathing and panting.
·· Pale combs/wattles.
·· Lifting wings away from body.
·· Lethargy.
·· Diarrhea.
·· Seizures/convulsions.

Consequences:
In broilers it reduces growth rates and increases mortality.
In layers it reduces egg production, lowers hatching rates, has a lower egg quality: smaller eggs, thinner shells and overall poor internal egg quality.
